About John Flaxman

I'm John Flaxman, an SEO specialist and self-taught developer. I started working on the web in 2016 and have spent every year since sharpening two skills side by side: getting websites found, and building the software that helps me do it.

Over the years I've taken part in programs and events run by Semrush, Ahrefs and Google, and earned certifications along the way. On the client side, I've worked across almost every vertical you can think of, from small local businesses to some of the most competitive niches on the web, including iGaming and betting.

SEO is still my core discipline. With the help of modern AI tooling, I've also become hands-on with HTML, CSS, PHP and JavaScript, which changed how I work more than any SEO tool ever did.

Why I build my own tools

My rule is simple: if I rely on something, I want to understand it well enough to build it myself. That's why I don't pay for SEO tools. Most of what I use every day, from crawlers and rank trackers to indexing and reporting scripts, I wrote for myself.

There's a second reason too: privacy. Client data, rankings and site metrics don't leave my own systems. Everything runs on software and servers I control.
